Our koala research is going out to schools
We’re delighted to be sharing our fascinating discoveries about the Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains koalas with schools. We’ve been working together with Brewongle Environmental Education Centre who are running a “Koala Incursion” program, engaging local schools in all things koala.
Thanks to support from the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage and Brewongle, we recently completed a teacher training session with staff at Brewongle and shared our research results including the ecological value of this important koala population, maps of local koala habitats, and koala food tree and scat identification. The kids can then go out look for koalas and signs of koalas, and help conserve koalas in their local area.
We’re looking forward to helping to grow this program as our koala research expands over more of the region.
