Help from Communities is Proving Invaluable

Thanks to everyone who reported a koala sighting to us. The reports are flowing in, showing without a doubt that there are still koalas living in the Blue Mountains and around the World Heritage Area.

We are pleased to be working with Jane Lambert, a Masters student from the University of NSW who is helping us to map out all the koala sightings and identify koala habitats for follow-up ecological surveys. Jane is also evaluating social media tools so that we can expand our community surveys. As a result of her work we will  launch an online mapping tool so that you can report a koala sighting just by clicking on a map. The information coming in from our citizen scientists is invaluable, so please report any koala sightings to us!
