Koala capture, arboreal expert (Casual). Ben studied arboriculture at the University of Melbourne before moving to Katoomba in the Blue Mountains where he provides tree management services. While working with Science for Wildlife, Ben trained up in koala capture work. He is now a critical part of the team with a knack for coaxing koalas out of a tree from a great height for health assessments and subsequent radio tracking as part of our ecological studies. Ben also assists with anything tree related including joining us to help with vital tree hazard assessment on the black, which allowed us access for our wildlife emergency response work after the bushfires, tree identification and deploying arboreal camera traps.
